Congratulations, the swine flu has completely disappeared from the West or at least from France after Israel formally called for changing the name of the disease from swine flu to Mexican flu in English or from grippe porcine to grippe Mexicaine in French. Therefore, all the French newspapers and TV channels use the new name!
The Minister of Health, a Jewish extremist Yakov Litzman, said the Jews and Muslims see the pig as an "impure" animal, so the name of the swine flu should be changed because it is insulting to those who get inflicted with the disease, as he put it.
I do not understand exactly the point of view of that minister that is not much different from our extremists who always comment on the name of things rather than their core.
The minister's point of view could be justified if the pig was a sacred animal in Judaism and, accordingly, giving the new epidemic the name of the pig would be an affront to Jewish sanctities, but the minister said the opposite!
Nor do I understand the reason for involving the Muslims in this matter, as we did not object to anything. Giving the disease the name of the pigs or cockroaches or any other animal has nothing to do with Islam.
However, the Jewish extremist minister wanted to prove once again his deep and great respect for Arabs and Muslims that were described by one of his political leaders a few years ago as "snakes and insects" that should be eliminated. In addition, the Netanyahu government, which has coalitions with the extremist religious parties, wanted to please the extremist groups.
For our part, we do not doubt at all Israel's respect for the Muslims' feeling, as evidenced by what happened on more than one occasion, the latest of which was the Israeli aggression on Gaza in which it only killed 2,000 civilians and wounded thousands others, including children, women and elders! We should thank this government because it did not kill all the Gazans because it had no time to do this!
France also did not hesitate to respond to the Israeli protest because the name of the swine flu implies an insult to the feelings of the Jews and the Muslims alike. It is known that the Western societies in general respect the Muslim sanctities, as evidenced by the Danish blaspheme to the Prophet Mohammed!
What we could not understand is the Israeli and Western contempt to Mexico and its citizens, as they immediately named the name of the epidemic after them.
