News Agencies: Approximately two thousand Muslims of the Egyptian community and other nationalities in Germany held the funeral prayers for Marwa el-Sherbini, the veil victim that was killed last Wednesday. The prayers took place in Dar Al-Salam Mosque in the Berlin.
Mohamed Shaaban Gabr, an Egyptian German living in Dresden, said Marwa el-Shirbini’s funeral was massive, with people coming from all over Germany. He said that a friend of the victim's family in Germany delivered a sermon praising the martyr and her religious and moral commitments. He also asked the congregation to engage and integrate with the German society so that they would have a voice within the employment structure of Germany.
Gabr, who was among the mourners and accompanying Tarek el-Sherbini, the victim’s brother, during his visit to Germany, said the victim's body was wrapped in black cloth embroidered with Koranic verses, and that her brother led the prayers after the sermon of the mosque’s imam, adding that the congregation started to shout “God is great – There is no God but Allah” as the coffin was coming out of the mosque, carried on the shoulders, and until it was put in the car to take it to the airport.
He said the coffin stayed approximately 30 minutes in the car, as the brother was receiving condolences at the Islamic Center. He also said that Ramzi Ezz Eddin, the Egyptian Ambassador to Germany, and all the members of the Egyptian embassy and the technical offices in Berlin, attended the funeral, and that no German political official has so far commented on the incident or extended condolences to the victim’s family, arguing that the investigation is not yet over.
Gabr said that Mustafa, the victim's son, who is now in the care of his aunt, who came from Cairo to Germany immediately after the incident, is waiting for his father Elwi Ali Okaz, the victim's husband who teaches at the Institute of Genetic Engineering of Menoufia University, and who was on leave in Germany, and was wounded in the courtroom, to get better, in order to decide if his son should leave.
The story that revolves within the Egyptian community in Germany indicates that Alex W, Marwa’s killer, told Marwa before the judge pronounced the sentence: “You do not deserve to live,” and that immediately after the verdict was pronounced, he attacked her with a knife, shocking the audience inside the courtroom, until the Judge called for help, which came from outside the room.
The body was scheduled to arrive at 9:00 p.m. last night at Cairo Airport.

For his part, General Adel Labib, Governor of Alexandria, said he will pay for a special grave for the victim, and that he and all executive and popular officials will attend the funeral, because Marwa was the daughter of all people, pointing out that anything the family of the martyred needs would be given to them for free.
